The Jumbo has always been one of my favorite acoustic body styles. The authoritative rumble of the guitar's natural low end, coupled with clear and bright highs, make an awesome force for singer/songwriters, fingerstylists and anyone seeking a larger acoustic presence with a bit more volume thrown in. This Bedell BJB-52 fits the above description and then some.
With its eye-captivating display of solid Canadian Flamed Maple, this guitar is an easy choice to want to pick up. The flames approach your eyes from any angle, perfectly bookmatched on the back, while the hue of the solid Sitka Spruce top blends into one very beautiful instrument.
Sonically, the tight and bright response of the maple provides a nice compliment to the guitar's deep voicing. As achieving volume is not really an issue with a larger bodied guitar, the narrower waist eliminates excessive midrange, creating beautiful bell-like tones throughout. This is a very percussive instrument, and is perfect for rhythmic bass lines, open tunings, and any player on a solo gig. This thing is like having a backup band everywhere you go.
This instrument is yet another example of Bedell's contribution of sonic excellence. Forget paying more for a nice Jumbo when you have everything you would want, need and care to show off with the BJB-52-6.
