Gretsh Electromatic 5420T - Aspen Green

Gretsch’s popular Electromatic 5420T single cutaway is already a top seller. Classic features—including 5-ply maple hollow-body construction, Blacktop Filter’tron pickups and standard Bigsby tailpiece—make the5420T and incredible bargain with tons of traditional Gretsch vibe.

Recent improvements have made them even better performers, with added ’50s-era aesthetics and better-quality features, including:

  • Smaller, 1950s-style bound headstock
  • Nu-Bone nut for increased tuning stability
  • Late-‘50s style “Neo-Classic” thumbnail inlays
  • Aged binding with multi-ply purfling
  • Bound, oversized F-Holes
  • Treble Bleed Circuit added to the Master Volume control

For the money, we’d be hard-pressed to come up with a better-looking, better-performing classic-style guitar than the Gretsch Electromatic 5420T.

Why We Like Gretsch Electromatic Guitars

The Gretsch Electromatic nameplate signifies the company’s line of guitars built in Korea. The guitars are very well made, the electronics/pickups are really good and quality control is excellent (we’ve had several players say these are better-made guitars than some of the old NY-made instruments). We really like Gretsch’s classic looks and distinctive tone—and nobody else makes a Bigsby look as cool. With the Electromatic’s recent improvements, including “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups and the addition of new center-block models, you can’t find a better, more economical way to get “that great Gretsch sound.”
