Gretsch 5620T-CB Electromatic Center-Block

A lot of players have wished for the Gretsch look and sound in a more “high gain-friendly” body. Here it is: The single-cutaway G5620T-CB Electromatic Center-Block. You get “That Great Gretsch Sound!” with an interior solid spruce center block running the length of the guitar's body. With a slightly thinner 1 3/4” depth, the 5620 can turn it up while delivering more tone, sustain and control.

The "Black Top" Filter’Tron humbucking bridge pickup is full of bite and bark. In the neck position, a dual-coil Super HiLo’Tron pickup is voiced to produce a clean, high end sparkle with plenty of low end and low-noise performance. A 3-way switch routes through a master volume control, with individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup.

Other features include five-ply maple body construction with a bound arched top and back, bound "cat's eye" sound holes and a bound maple neck. The G5620T-CB also has a 12.5"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and Neo-Classic "thumbnail" inlays, anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and flat-handled Bigsby-licensed B70 vibrato, Grover tuners and knurled strap retainer knobs.

Why We Like Gretsch Electromatic Guitars

The Gretsch Electromatic nameplate has been around for many years. Now, it signifies the company’s line of guitars built in Korea or China. The guitars are very well made, the electronics/pickups are really good and quality control is excellent (we’ve had several players say these are better-made guitars than some of the old NY-made instruments). In short, we’re happy to recommend these great-looking, vibey, very affordable Gretsch guitars.

We really like Gretsch’s classic looks and distinctive tone—and nobody else makes a Bigsby look as cool. With the Electromatic’s recent improvements, including “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups and the addition of new center-block models, you can’t find a better, more economical way to get “that great Gretsch sound.”
