Gretsch G5022CWFE Rancher Falcon - Black

Back to List

The Rancher Falcon Jumbo is an attention grabber. You can’t miss the gloss black 17” body, the gold sparkle binding, the Gretsch signature triangular sound hole or the Falcon-style headstock with gold tuners (and even more gold sparkle). There’s just nothing subtle about this guitar.

It has a big sound to match. The solid spruce top and maple back and sides give the jumbo body plenty of attack and presence to go with the booming low end. The word “driving” comes to mind—and that’s before you plug it in.

The Rancher Falcon features a Fishman Sonicore pickup under the saddle, routed through an Isys+ preamp system. 3-band EQ, phase switch and Volume controls offer plenty of sound tailoring. There’s also a built-in tuner and battery status LED. It’s a complete package.

The neck is 2-piece mahogany with rosewood fingerboard and Neo-Classical ‘thumbnail’ inlays. A gold plexi pickguard features the Gretsch logo with falcon graphic. Again—nothing subtle—but if you want to make a statement, this is the way to do it, and sound great doing it.

Why We Like It

Nobody does stunning guitars better than Gretsch. The famed Falcon electric has been such an icon for so long, it’s only fitting to have a big, glowing acoustic to match. It’s not the guitar for everyone—being a jumbo, it’s probably too big for smaller players to manage comfortably—but for the performer who wants a guitar that says, “I’m here,” few instruments could do it better. Pushy? Maybe, but they’ll remember you—and it’s a fine-sounding guitar, too. Live a little!
