Gretsch G5422TG Electromatic Hollow Body - Snow Crest White

The G5422TG Electromatic Hollow Body is a gorgeous addition to the Gretsch line. It features a bound, double-cutaway hollow body, sound-post bracing and elegant bound f-holes. With its 2 “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups and gold-plated Bigsby B60G vibrato tailpiece, you’re looking at—and listening to—a powerful, attention-getting Gretsch.

This one has a big, fat sound. The double-coil FT-53 pickups offer a great clean tone but it can also crank. And the hollow body is great for players who use controlled feedback as part of their sound. This one gets it, and does it in style.

Other features include a maple neck; bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and hump-block pearloid inlays; gold plexi pickguard; three-position pickup switch; classic “G” arrow control knobs; rosewood-based Adjusto-Matic bridge; vintage-style open-back tuners and gold-plated hardware.

Why We Like Gretsch Electromatic Guitars

The Gretsch Electromatic nameplate has been around for many years. Now, it signifies the company’s line of guitars built in Korea. The guitars are very well made, the electronics/pickups are really good and quality control is excellent (we’ve had several players say these are better-made guitars than some of the old NY-made Gretsch instruments). In short, we’re happy to recommend these great-looking, vibey, very affordable Gretsch guitars.

We really like Gretsch’s classic looks and distinctive tone—and nobody else makes a Bigsby look as cool. With the Electromatic’s recent improvements, including “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups and the addition of new center-block models, you can’t find a better, more economical way to get “that great Gretsch sound.”
