The D’Angelico name has long been synonymous with the finest archtop guitars on the planet. These new models clearly aren't original New York D'Angelicos, but they are serious, worthy instruments.
Body: This D’Angelico EX-DC 16” semi-hollowbody features laminated maple top, sides, and back. The feel is reminiscent of top-of-the-line guitars from Kalamazoo’s glory days. The tone is resonant and warm, but ready to turn aggressive at the flick of a switch. Center-block construction gives you tons of sustain and volume without worrying about unwanted feedback.
Neck: The neck is multi-ply maple/walnut, with a rosewood fretboard and large mother-of-pearl block markers. A pair of P90 pickups produce a wide range of tones, from smooth jazz to killer blues/rock leads. A tuneomatic bridge and Bigsby tailpiece give you accurate intonation and vibrato accessibility.
Details: The top, back, and “stairstep” tortoiseshell pickguard all feature 5-ply binding. F-holes are bound as well, and all hardware is gold-plated. The split-pediment headstock offers a faithful reproduction of D’Angelico’s iconic original. The workmanship, features, and finish are all excellent, and the quality is top-notch.
This instrument is pre-owned and in very good condition. There's very minor and normal signs of previous play usage with some faint pick scratches on the top. There are no major dings, dents, or paint chips. The neck is nice and straight, and the frets have plenty of life in them. This guitar weighs 8lbs 2oz.
