The Danelectro Sitar is the easiest way to get that famous ‘transcendental’ sound of the psychedelic ‘60s. Descended from the original Coral "Vinnie Bell Model" Electric Sitar, the new Dano Electric Sitar takes a simple approach with six strings and standard guitar tuning. It also includes the 13-sympathetic-strings mini-harp, for sweeping, glissando effects.
A Gotoh sitar bridge creates the familiar buzz; a trio of Danelectro lipstick (bridge, neck, and mini harp) pickups give it just the right timbre for very believable sitar tone.
The hollow hardboard/plywood body construction is amazingly lightweight. The neck and action are set up for comfortable playing, the 24.75” scale stays in tune and offers a familiar feel.
Why We Like It
Vintage electric sitars aren’t cheap, especially since they get used so sparingly. The Dano Electric Sitar gives you the sitar sound without setting you back a bunch of rupees. Straightforward, standard tuning, lipstick pickups and a mini-harp—this Sitar couldn’t be any better.
