The Eastman MD804 mandocello offers classic archtop design and construction, with a solid spruce top, oval sound hole, solid flame maple back and sides for excellent projection and tonal definition. The lower register and mellow tone make the mandocello stand out—an especially useful tool for mandolin players looking for a warmer, blending voice.
The Classic finish is Eastman’s thin, truetone lacquer with multi-ply ivoroid binding on the top and back. A maple neck with bound ebony fingerboard and adjustable ebony bridge add distinctive appearance and playing ease. The diamond rosette gives additional “pop” to an already great look.
We’re consistently impressed with Eastman’s attention to fit and finish on their mandolin-family instruments, as well as their excellent tone. They don’t claim to be collectibles from America’s golden instrument-manufacturing era, but they offer traditional design and fine workmanship, with great sound and looks at a reasonable price. We like that. A hardshell vinyl case is included.
