The original Epiphone Newport bass originally debuted in 1961—todays Newport bass pays tribute to the originals while offering refinements to meet the needs of today's bass players.
The Newport is made of solid mahogany for the body and neck plus Indian Laurel for the fingerboard. The 30.5" scale length, medium "C" neck profile, and double cutaway design allows for easy and comfortable playability.
Unlike the one pickup Newports that came before, you have a wider array of tonal options with today's version. The Bass Sidewinder in the neck position offers the thick, vintage tone of years past. While the TB Pro in the bridge position offers a mix of brighter timbres. If you're looking for a vintage-looking, great-playing bass that can kind of do it all, and doesn't break the bank, then you might want to give the Epiphone Newport a try.
