Why We Like Music Man: Leo Fender’s first post-Fender brand, Music Man basses (now owned and manufactured by Ernie Ball) are clearly descendants of the Fender lineage. They feel just a little heftier than their Southern California cousins. Most feature active electronics and punchy, quiet, double-coil pickups for less noise and more tonal range. We also like their great-playing necks. The feel is definitely familiar—but still distinctive from other Fender-style basses.
