Fender's new Gold Foil series guitars and basses are reminiscent of their Pawn Shop series guitars. Inspired by '60s-era catalog-store instruments (and the garage rock bands who played them ), this bass is way more than a novelty. It combines vintage swagger and nostalgia with modern playability.
It starts with a Jazz bass-standard alder body, loaded with a not-so-standard gold foil single-coil pickup. This pickup offers full, punchy tone—frankly, better than we expected—that complements the bold looks of the Sonic Blue finish and matching headstock. The ebony fingerboard is also bound to add class while the maple neck offers a '60s "C" profile for vintage feel and comfortable playability. Amp-style skirted knobs, a 4-saddle bridge and vintage-style tuners complete the look. A Fender gig bag is included.
