G. Gould Hybrid Series basses combine the stability, consistency, and articulate sound of Gould's graphite-neck basses with the more traditional feel, comfort, and tonal warmth of wood. A combination of graphite/epoxy laminates in the maple neck adds significant expressive power to what looks and feels like a traditional neck.
The satin-finish maple neck and 24-fret Pau Ferro fingerboard provide a rigid feel, with lively resonance and presence. The active electronics package (EMG 40CSX pickups through an 18-volt EMG-BTS EQ system) offers ample tone control, headroom, and sonic range. Together, you get a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” of a 5-string bass!
Additional features include a lightweight alder body, chrome Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners, and a 35" scale—standard on all Gould 5-string basses—for better tuning stability and presence on the low B string. Great tone to match the great look. A deluxe soft-sided case is included. Weighs 8 lbs 10 oz.
