The Gibson Les Paul Standard Bass is one of those Gibson basses you don’t run across every day. It takes the familiar Les Paul shape and makes it properly big, with the oversized single-cut body and full 34" scale. Gibson only made these for a stretch in the 2000s, so they’re a pretty interesting part of the company’s bass history.
This one is pre-loved and in very good shape for being old enough to drink. There’s some normal play wear here and there, but nothing major or anything that takes away from the overall condition. It plays and sounds great, which is what matters most.
The mahogany body, carved maple top, and set mahogany neck give it that unmistakably Gibson construction, while the pair of TB Plus ceramic humbuckers bring plenty of punch and output. The controls are simple too, with individual volume and tone controls for each pickup and a 3-way toggle.
The big Les Paul body gives this one a completely different feel from the usual Fender-style basses, and at 9lbs 14oz, you definitely know you’re wearing a Gibson. The cream binding, trapezoid inlays, chrome hardware, and Grover tuners finish off the classic look.
A cool piece of Gibson bass history, especially for someone who likes the less-common stuff from the company’s catalog. This one has been played, but it’s been taken care of and still has plenty of life left in it.
