The Gibson SG Standard ’61 Faded Maestro Vibrola captures the look, feel, and tone of the iconic early ‘60s SG models, complete with period-correct appointments and a classic satin finish. The solid mahogany body features the signature double-cutaway shape with deeply contoured bevels, delivering a lightweight feel and easy upper-fret access.
The neck is also solid mahogany and carved to Gibson’s fast-playing SlimTaper profile. It’s topped with a bound rosewood fretboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, acrylic trapezoid inlays, and a 12” radius for a comfortable balance between chording and lead work.
One of the standout features is the Maestro Vibrola tailpiece, which offers expressive vibrato capability and adds vintage-correct styling with the engraved Lyre cover. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and Vintage Deluxe tuners provide solid tuning stability and sustain.
Electronics include a pair of 60s Burstbucker humbuckers wired with audio taper pots and Orange Drop capacitors for classic tones with clarity and punch. The control layout is traditional SG: two volumes, two tones, and a three-way selector switch.
Finished in Vintage Cherry with nickel hardware and a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, this SG is a faithful nod to a defining era of Gibson craftsmanship.
