Gold Tone M-BassFL Fretless Acoustic/Electric MicroBass 2021 Satin Natural Mahogany
Gold Tone M-BassFL Fretless Acoustic/Electric MicroBass 2021 Satin Natural Mahogany
The original ukulele bass of the Gold Tone family, the M-Bass delivers surprising low end, and amazingly upright-style tone from a “baby”-sized body. Available fretted or fretless (this is the fretless model), the 23” scale is easy to play, and offers deep low end with limited sustain—very much like what you expect from a string bass.
The laminated okoume mini-dreadnaught body features an arched back for enhanced depth and projection, a cutaway for easy access to higher notes, and a beveled arm relief (Ergo-Glide) for playing comfort. The built-in piezo pickup/preamp includes Volume and active EQ controls, plus a tuner.
Gold Tone's specially developed Aquila high-tension polymer strings are very easy to play (almost a little “rubbery” at first, but the adjustment is easy). A padded gig bag included.

Why We Like the Gold Tone MicroBass
The Gold Tone MicroBass is a different animal, but definitely useful. It’s the “ultimately portable” bass—sized about like a typical travel guitar, so there’s almost nowhere it can’t go. Onboard electronics are simple, and the short scale makes the fretless model easy to play in tune. The synthetic, rubbery strings take a little getting used to, since fingers don’t glide quite like they do on a typical string. But if that’s the worst thing we can say, we’ve got a winner!
