If you’re chasing that classic Gretsch hollowbody thing, this Gretsch G5422TG Electromatic absolutely nails the vibe.
Double-cut body, gold hardware, Bigsby, Filter’Trons… it’s got all the right ingredients. And the Walnut Stain finish with the gold appointments just looks ridiculously classy without trying too hard.
Tone-wise, the FT-5E Filter’Trons bring all that signature Gretsch sparkle and snap. Clean tones stay articulate and chimey, but there’s still enough warmth and punch there when you dig in. Throw a little gain on it and it gets into that gritty rockabilly, garage rock, indie territory effortlessly.
The hollowbody construction keeps everything lively and resonant, and the Bigsby adds just the right amount of movement without feeling over the top. One of those guitars that makes simple chords sound cooler than they probably should.
