The JHS Smiley 1969 London Fuzz is JHS Pedals’ recreation of the late-1960s silicon-transistor Arbiter Fuzz Face, the classic fuzz circuit associated with Jimi Hendrix. It delivers punchy, aggressive fuzz with strong sustain, rich harmonics, and a cutting upper-midrange bite.
Think of the Smiley as a classic Hendrix-style fuzz that can move from thick, singing distortion to wild, sputtering, gated fuzz.
What does it sound like?
Classic psychedelic rock: Thick, saturated lead tones with plenty of sustain, ideal for Hendrix-inspired riffs and solos.
Blues-rock: Expressive, harmonically rich fuzz that responds to your picking dynamics.
Garage rock: Raw, gritty distortion with a sharp attack and plenty of attitude.
Volume-knob cleanup: Roll back your guitar's volume to reduce the distortion and recover a clearer, almost clean sound.
Gated fuzz: Activate JHS Mode for a more extreme, spluttering sound that can cut off abruptly as notes decay.
