The D-X2E Brazilian Burst Special takes the familiar Martin dreadnought formula and gives it a little more personality. You get a solid spruce top with Brazilian rosewood-patterned HPL back and sides, finished off in a really good-looking Vintage Burst. It has plenty of that big dreadnought presence, but the Special appointments keep it from looking like the usual X Series.
The scalloped X-bracing helps the spruce top open up nicely, giving the D-X2E plenty of projection and a good amount of definition across the strings. It’s the kind of guitar that works just as well for hard strumming as it does for more controlled picking.
The Performing Artist neck has a comfortable feel, with a 16" radius and full 25.4" scale. The faux mother-of-pearl Diamonds & Squares inlays, faux abalone rosette, and Martin block headplate logo are nice touches that give this one a more dressed-up look without getting too flashy.
Martin E1 electronics make it easy to plug in when needed, and at 4 lbs 15 oz it’s still a pretty manageable guitar to have around for gigs, rehearsals, or just hanging out at home. Comes with a softshell case.
