The big difference is the body size. The Super HD-28 uses Martin’s Super D-14 Fret body, which is about 20% larger in internal air volume than a standard HD-28. The lower bout stretches to 16.375" (vs. 15.625" on a traditional dreadnought), giving this guitar noticeably more headroom, deeper low-end, and greater overall projection. In other words, it keeps the familiar HD-28 voice—but adds a bigger, more open soundstage and a bass response you can feel in your chest.
Tonewise, it’s everything you’d expect from a high-end Martin dread: rich rosewood overtones, piano-like bass, and crisp, articulate highs. Flatpicked runs explode with power, while big open chords bloom with depth and harmonic complexity. The GE Modified Low Oval neck with High-Performance Taper keeps it fast and comfortable despite the larger body, making it just as at home on stage as it is in the studio.
