The C1 provides the studio-quality sound you’d expect from a much more-expensive European mic—with usable, intelligent features—all at an affordable price.
The MK 1 capsule uses dual 1” gold-coated diaphragms, similar to those used in Miktek’s more costly mics. Combined with the built-in high-pass filter, –10dB pad and AMI T7 transformer, the C1 provides a smooth, transparent sound that’s warm and natural. It’s great for vocals but also excellent for recording acoustic instruments, guitar amps or drum overheads.
The head amp design features a variable bias voltage circuit that lets you switch the capsule bias voltage from +48 to +60 volts. This basically gives the C1 two different voices, both classic and modern.
We’re big fans of Miktek products, since they’re made here in Nashville, by studio pros for studio pros. Their large-diaphragm mics compare to any of the tried-and-true standards from Europe. As for the C1: For the dollar, there’s not a better, more “record-ready” mic. Warm and open-sounding—like all of Miktek’s products—the C1 lives up to its potential as a pro-level mic at a believable price.
