Rickenbacker 4001 1980 - Fireglo
Rickenbacker 4001 1980 - Fireglo
This is a late-era 4001 and a great example of what makes these basses so special — neck-through maple construction, bound rosewood board with triangle inlays, and that unmistakable piano-like growl that only a vintage Ric delivers.
This one is in very good condition for its age and presents exactly how you’d hope a well-loved 46-year-old instrument would. It has honest, natural wear throughout — the chrome hardware shows light patina, there are some finish wear marks on the body, and the back has a noticeable patch of buckle rash. There are also a few small dings on the headstock. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing structural — just real-world play wear.
Electronics function as they should, and it plays and sounds exactly like a great 4001 should — tight low end, bright top, and that classic articulate Ric character.
This one weighs 9lbs 10oz and comes with a case.
