Rickenbacker 620 2023 - Fireglo
Though it dates back to the 1930s, the Rickenbacker brand went largely unnoticed until the Beatles brought it spectacularly to the world’s attention. However, this little Southern California company had always been innovative, introducing the “Cresting Wave” body design in the ‘50s. Compact and featuring neck-through-body construction, the easy-playing 620 bears a clear family resemblance to the classic 4001/4003 Rickenbacker bass.
The full-length neck and solid body are both made of maple, providing plenty of bite and sustain. The high-gloss rosewood fretboard features triangular pearloid inlays. Two hi-gain single-coil pickups are routed through Mono and Stereo (“Rick-o-Sound”) outputs. The controls include 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs, a 3-way pickup selector, and a pickup balance knob. The pickguard showcases Rickenbacker’s traditional 2-tiered design.
We love the 620 because it offers the unmistakable Rickenbacker sound with a unique look (you might remember the Tom Petty signature 12-string, which is based on this body style).
