The P125 is an outstanding piano for home use—or apartment, or practice room. It's compact and lightweight, easy to use on a desktop, table or stand. With many of the same features found in Yamaha’s bigger stage models, it offers grand piano tone and real weighted key feel—plus the P125 features additional voices, including electric pianos, organs, basses, vibes, harpsichord and strings that you can layer or play by themselves. 

The full 88-note keyboard features Yamaha’s Graded Hammer system—which means lower keys for big bass notes offer greater resistance and higher keys/notes offer less, just like on a real piano. The sounds are a product of the Pure CF Sound Engine, using samples that include the Yamaha CFIIIS 9’ grand to give you incredibly accurate sounds. 

Want a little rhythm? You can practice with either the built-in metronome or select from 10 drum patterns, to make things a whole lot more interesting. You can also use the Pianist Style patterns—like having a second piano player accompany you. And the Smart Pianist App adds even more features, including chord charts for thousands of popular songs. 

Internal stereo 7-watt amps power 4 speakers (2 woofers and 2 tweeters) for full-range sound; or you can use headphones to practice without disturbing others (a feature your family and neighbors will appreciate). And if you do ever need to play even louder, you can run a line out of the AUX output to an amp or PA.

Why We Like the P125

Yamaha does pianos right, whether for stage, studio or home, acoustic or electric. The features in the P125 make it a super home instrument for practice or sheer enjoyment, and that's were we see it used most. But it can also be amplified, making it perfect for small gigs—plus, with its USB port, it can send MIDI information to either a computer or iOS device (iPhone /iPad). It's a lot of piano for the price.
